The deployment of 50,000 solar streetlights in Senegal on behalf of the National Agency for Renewable Energies (2022) ANER has initiated a major project to install 50,000 streetlights, funded by the State of Senegal to follow up on the directives of His Excellency Mr. Macky SALL, President of the Republic. This project, which focuses on the development of renewable energies, will allow the generalization of the use of solar public lighting throughout the national territory. The implementation of this first phase started in June 2019 and will eventually cover 145 municipalities. It will thus make it possible to: – Reduce the electricity bills of local authorities through solar and autonomous energy solutions; – Improve security in municipalities through intelligent lighting; – Contribute to the development of nocturnal commercial activities; – Participate in improving the security of supply of energy products; – Contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions; – Reduce fossil fuel imports by diversifying the sources of energy production.
