Nimesis Technology is a French company that develops and manufactures devices using Shape Memory Alloys technology. All industry sectors are concerned, from space to biomedical, nuclear, watchmaking, automotive, aeronautics and fire protection. A patent on the manufacturing process of a copper-based AMF (Shape Memory Alloy) has been filed by NIMESIS TECHNOLOGY.
To fight against current environmental upheavals (climate change, drought, temperature increase, etc.), Nimesis is currently developing a passive and early, autonomous detection and warning system (DEWS) for forest fires. Relayed by a satellite transmission network, it will considerably minimize the impact of these disasters on the human, animal and plant environment, and on the economy of the territories.
Recognized for its innovative projects and its expertise, Nimesis constantly responds to the current and future needs of different industries by providing players in the sector with its skills and expertise in multiple fields. Nimesis is currently developing a passive, rapid, economical and autonomous warning system (without battery), fire detection with data transmission by satellite and / or by land.
Compared to recent ground detection systems (optical detection, IR imaging satellites only, etc.), the added value of the detector, called DEWS, is based on the technical advantages of shape memory alloys; these materials return to their initial shape on heating, at a given temperature by generating a mechanical action (force and displacement). As part of the I-Nov competition, Nimesis caught the attention of ADEME, which is currently co-financing the installation of our detector.
The European Community is the area in which Nimesis has the most references abroad. For the development of its product, Nimesis targets an international market, starting with Europe, and the rest of the world in the longer term. Nimesis’ objective is to manufacture and sell, to the relevant markets in Europe and around the world (Forests, architectural heritage, new buildings, natural conservatory areas, private houses, etc.), several million detectors after the first five years of operation.

Nimesis was born from a technology transfer between the LEM3 of the University of Lorraine and industry. Alain Hautcoeur, CNRS research engineer in this laboratory in 1996, worked for several years on the technology of shape memory alloys (AMF). The laboratory will remain at the forefront of this science known as intelligent materials. After several years of development led by the entire laboratory team, it was in 2008 that Alain Hautcoeur and his partner Cathy Rutigliano created Nimesis Technology. A start-up entirely dedicated to the commercial development of AMF technology.
Nimesis started out as a design office capable of developing innovative products for all areas of the industry. Nimesis now develops and produces its own products, like DEWS.
